We require two professional references to complete your application.
These need to be submitted before you can submit your full application, so we recommend you get started on this step as soon as possible.
How it works:
→ We use an online, email-based reference system.
→ References must be submitted directly through this system — we can’t accept references by email, post, or fax.
→ References are confidential (you won’t see what’s written).
Who should I choose as my referees?
- Ideally, your two most recent employers.
- But we understand not everyone has that experience so part-time, internship, or volunteer supervisors are absolutely fine.
Choose people who know your work well and can comment on your skills, attitude, and potential.
We cannot accept references from:
✗ Family members or family friends
✗ Colleagues or co-workers (they must have supervised or managed you)
✗ References sent outside our online system
What do I need to do?
Speak to your referees before submitting their details. Let them know to expect an email from us.
Confirm and double-check their email address.
Ask them to keep an eye on their inbox (and junk/spam folder!) for our reference request.
Follow up with them if needed, remember, your application can’t move forward without their responses.
How will I know when my references are in?
Once your referee submits their reference, you’ll see the status update in your my.mountbatten account. This is your confirmation that it’s been received.
Final tip:
Referees are often busy, a quick phone call or reminder can make all the difference!
⏳ References must be received before the application deadline for your intake. Prompt your referees if needed, it’s your responsibility to ensure they respond on time.
