What and where did you study before your Mountbatten internship?
I had completed my BSc Banking And Finance from University of London External Program, in association with London School of Economics & Political Science. I joined the program straight out of grad school at 21.

What made you apply for the Mountbatten program?
The thought of interning in one of the financial capitals of the world and getting a stipend for it!

Describe your sponsor company and your role within it.
Deutsche Bank. Emerging Markets Operations Analyst. I worked in creating decks for front and back office issues in emerging locations. Also, I got a chance to work with book runners to understand how the traders made money for the bank.

What was the highlight/most memorable moment of your working experience during this year?
London always brings a smile to my face. I remember my flat, grocery shopping, flat mates, shopping during Christmas and new year, and above all – travelling to Europe with my parents. I also visited Edinburgh which was beautiful, and Dorset with other interns.

What was the social highlight/most memorable moment during this year?
I enjoyed all the parties/get togethers that Mountbatten organized that gave us many occasions to socialize and know the cohort better. I especially remember the Halloween party as it was the first time I had been to one.

Please share a little wisdom/philosophy that you acquired during your internship
Have gratitude and make the most of the opportunity. It does not come to everyone.

Upon reflection, what do you consider has been the biggest impact of your Mountbatten year?
Kickstarting my career with a global name and an international location, spoke volumes for my capabilities through my cv itself. It made getting interview calls from reputed organizations a little easier.

What happened after completing the year – what did you do next?
I came back to India and joined Deutsche Bank Global Markets Centre office – the premium legal entity of Deutche Bank in India, as opposed to back office operations entity.

Where are you now in your working life and what do you do?
I work in Wells Fargo in their Bangalore office. I work as Operational Risk officer for Front office division – Banking, Markets and COO.

Do you have any future plans that you would like to realise & what are they (career & social)?
In my career, I am working my way up the ladder and I know it will happen with the right experience and time.

Is there any other information that you would like to be included?
It’s a great program for young professionals who are starting their careers, as that’s when the program makes the most difference.
