A few things to keep in mind:

Start your search early — the London rental market moves quickly, and good options at reasonable prices are taken fast
Budget carefully — London rental costs vary significantly by area and transport zone, with Central London and Zone 1–2 properties typically at the higher end. Areas in Zone 2–3 offer a good balance of affordability and connectivity
Consider proximity to your workplace and access to the London Underground, Overground, or Elizabeth line when shortlisting options — London’s transport network is extensive and can open up a much wider range of neighborhoods
Take time to research the local area — look into neighborhood safety, amenities, and general suitability to ensure it aligns with your preferences and comfort
Be mindful of standard safety practices when searching for and securing accommodation (e.g., verifying listings, avoiding upfront cash payments, and ensuring proper agreements are in place)
Short-term or serviced accommodation can be a practical option while you search for something more permanent
