We welcome recent graduates and young professionals to join the Mountbatten London Program every Spring and Autumn. Your online application is your opportunity to showcase your experience, interests, and career goals. This information helps our team match successful applicants with placement opportunities that align with their aspirations. Apply early – Don’t wait until the deadline! The earlier you submit your application and supporting documents, the sooner we can begin identifying potential placements.
1. How to Apply
A strong, well-rounded application is essential to stand out in this competitive process. If you meet the eligibility criteria, your first step is to create a my.mountbatten account to begin your application. We assess applications on a rolling basis and aim to notify you of our decision within 7 working days of receiving your completed application, including payment of the application fee.
To apply, you will need to:
- Complete all questions on the online form
- Submit 2 employment references
- Upload a one-page resume (Word document preferred)
- Upload a one-page professional statement
What you will need:
- Contact details (including email addresses) for 2 work-related referees
- Your degree award date (note: this may differ from your graduation date, check with your university registry if unsure)
- Important: You won’t be able to submit your application or pay the fee until both references have been received.
- Tip: Begin by contacting your referees early, this helps ensure there are no delays once you’re ready to submit your application.
References
Your references are a key part of your application. We require 2 professional references, ideally from your most recent employers. These can include internships, part-time, voluntary, or full-time roles. Note: References must be submitted via our online system. We do not accept references from family, friends, or colleagues.
Helpful steps to secure your references:
- Contact your referees in advance and confirm their preferred email address.
- Double-check the spelling of their email before submitting it in your application.
- Ask them to check their inbox (and spam/junk folders) for the reference request email.
- Log into your My.Mountbatten account regularly to monitor reference status. You’ll be notified when a reference is submitted.
References must be received before the application deadline for your intake. Prompt your referees if needed, it’s your responsibility to ensure they respond on time.
2. Mountbatten Process Overview
- Application Assessment.
Once your application and application fee have been submitted, we will begin assessing your materials and verifying your references. You will be notified via email whether your application is being progressed. - Interview with Mountbatten
If your application is successful at this stage, you will be invited to a virtual interview with a member of the Mountbatten team. We will also ask that you submit a pre interview form prior to booking your interview with us. - Acceptance to the Candidate Pool.
You will be informed of the outcome of your interview shortly after it takes place, unless there are any outstanding documents, in which case your application will be placed on hold. If accepted, you will have one week to pay your Initial Deposit.Note: Acceptance to the Candidate Pool means you are considered a strong fit for the program, but placement is not guaranteed. Final selection is at the discretion of the Host Organization. - Placement Process
Once we receive your Initial Deposit and all required documents, we’ll create your Candidate Profile Pack, this includes your Resume, Professional Statement, and a written Profile prepared by our team. You’ll then be added to our Placement Matrix, which matches available Host Organization opportunities with candidates based on skills, experience, and preferences.
Important: Placement actions only begin once your documents and deposit have been received.
Here is what to expect:
- You may be considered by multiple Host Organizations.
- We arrange interviews, which are typically held virtually or by phone.
- The process usually takes around 2 months, though it can extend beyond your expected fly date.
- Interviews may continue up until, your program start date.
Stay flexible and communicative, your responsiveness plays a key role in the success of your placement.
Important: While Mountbatten makes every effort to secure a placement, acceptance into the Candidate Pool does not guarantee a placement offer.
