Mountbatten Institute - London UBS Programme
ELIGIBILITY
We are delighted that you are considering applying to this special programme with UBS. In order to give your application the best chance, please read the following notes carefully before proceeding further.
Skills Required
You should have strong office and computer skills. We require a minimum typing speed in English of 50 words per minute; if in doubt, you can test yourself by taking a test at on www.typingtest.com. You will also require a good working knowledge of MS Word and Excel. Powerpoint and Access knowledge could be helpful. You must be familiar with email. You should have good internet communication skills which must include experience with Microsoft Explorer and the use of search engines to perform on-line research.
Nationality and Language Requirements
You must be a citizen of the Republic of India, and an Indian resident, to join this programme.
Please note:
- If your native language is NOT English then your spoken and written English must be highly proficient.
- Dual citizens of India and either the UK or EC countries are NOT eligible to participate in the Programme.
Health Considerations
You should be in good health both physically and mentally. The internship year can be a stressful one, with multiple changes in your environment, and for some, a roller-coaster ride of highs and lows. Applicants with any form of medical condition are advised to discuss the matter with our Bangkok office before applying. The British National Health Service does not provide free treatment for pre-existing conditions. Treatment for such conditions can be expensive, and, in our experience, is generally uninsurable. The Programme is not able to offer any financial assistance in such cases and may ask you to demonstrate proof of ability to pay before accepting you.
Mountbatten generally reserves the right to terminate the internship of, and repatriate, any intern who is unable to comply with the rigors, demands and all of the requirements of the internship program: this would apply particularly to any intern who did not properly disclose a potentially disbarring medical condition prior to joining the Programme, if that condition subsequently became an issue during the internship. However, interns who develop new medical conditions while in London will of course receive the full sympathy and support of the Programme within the limits if its resources.
Marital Status
The Programme is not suitable for married couples, partners who wish to live together, or active single parents. The living allowance and accomodation arrangements are not suitable for couples, and partners.
Graduates
You must have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree with a major/specialization in banking/finance/international business. If you have a Master's degree or an MBA, your specialization should also be in international finance/banking. Professional examinations in banking and finance are welcome but should not be used in place of a bachelor's degree.
We welcome candidates who have undergraduate and graduate degrees from overseas (non-Indian) universities, providing (a) the subject specification fits our needs and (b) the University is accredited and/or goverment chartered.
Qualification Verification
Candidates are advised that, should they be called for interview, they must provide the Mountbatten Institute with original degree certificates at the time of interview. (These will be returned in the event that the intern is not offered a placement.) The Mountbatten Institute will have an independent organisation, based in India, conduct a verification of all professional details (employment and qualifications) of all candidates to whom we are considering offering placement.
Correspondence
Candidates must have an active email account - most of our correspondence, including interview scheduling, uses this medium. Once accepted onto the Programme it will be essential for the Mountbatten staff to be able to contact you quickly. If you have a cell phone, please include the number in your application. If your contact details change, please notify the Admissions Officer as soon as possible.
